NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor in the world by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and an undying passion for poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
