Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
Gus Hansen experienced an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest enthusiasts around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing net poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in big stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash rounds?
