Pai Gow uses 53 cards; the familiar 52-card common deck and a single joker. The player is assigned seven cards face up and the house gets seven cards faces hidden.
One 5 card hand and one two card hand need to be made from the 7 cards, the five card hand has to be better than the two card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand totals to be better than the dealer’s.
