No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a regular basis.
