Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
