NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
