NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the planet by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
